The moment you start watching the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated. — Eckhart Tolle, The Power of Now
This past year has been a period of significant inner growth for me. What I have grown into more fully is stepping beyond the mind that never stops thinking, which is the state most of us find ourselves in more and more in today's non-stop world.
We've all been conditioned to behave like this and don't realize it. I remember when I first read Synchronicity and met Joseph Jaworski in 2014, I remember him saying that on the inner path, we would gain a deeper understanding of how reality really works. That has certainly rang true on my journey, as I recently wrote about in Five Essential and Powerful Paradigm Shifts for 21st Century Leadership.
However, I have discovered and experienced that beyond our thinking lies a space of pure awareness. When we find out and recognize this space for what it is, we transcend the confines of the mind and embrace the boundless space beyond boundaries where possibilities are limitless.
What is transcendence?: Transcendence is about experiencing a state of awareness that's not confined by the continuous stream of thoughts, emotions, and perceptions that make up the ordinary state of consciousness. It is a realization of a deeper, unchanging reality that underlies all life.
The beginning of freedom is the realization that you are not the possessing entity — the thinker. Knowing this enables you to observe the entity. The moment you start watching the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated.
If we reflect on Tolle's quote more closely, it invites us to contemplate and consider transitioning from being trapped in our habitual thoughts and beliefs (mindsets) to experiencing a state of pure awareness that transcends these mental constructs. It points to recognizing and moving beyond the ego and the mind into a deeper understanding of one's true nature.
Transcendence in Leadership: Transcendence in leadership fosters a more self-aware, emotionally intelligent, clear-minded, resilient, inclusive, and purpose-driven style. Transcendent leaders possess a greater capacity to not only achieve organizational goals but also inspire and uplift those they lead.
For me, transcendence has impacted my writing, interactions with others, and leading my work forward amid the many challenges we all face today. It's become a profound space I can go to more and more at will to find new ideas, right action, and peace.
Exploring Transcendence in Greater Depth: At LeaderONE and Space Beyond Boundaries, we delve into many impactful subjects, with transcendence being a key area of focus. Speaking from my own experience, it may be the single most impactful realization you can have. More and more, it impacts everything in my world.
